Further, the following exertions of the supreme souls are the outcome of great, not minor, austerities:
extraordinary detachment from the sense-pleasures; unceasing study of the Scripture; supreme compassion; sharp intellect that has the power to dispel the darkness of delusion caused by absolutism; and, finally, giving up the body by relinquishing food as per the prescribed method, at the end of life.
