45. Because the actors, the beloved wife and the children, have left the scene in the middle, the acts have appeared empty in the human state, as in a play.[1]

[1] Comm.: He deva! iha saṃsāra-raṅgāntare sarvatrākhaṇḍitajñasya moha-nareśasya puraḥ karma-sūtradhāreṇa caturgati-nāṭakā (a)bhidhīyante | tan-madhyāc cābhidhīyamāneshu manushya-gatir eva I tat-tad-avasthā-viśeshānubhūyamāna-śṛiṅgārādi-rasātmakatvena naṭakāniva teshu manushya-gati-nāṭakeshu nara-bhaveshūtpannena mayāṅkā utsaṅgaḥ śūnyā nidhyāta dṛishṭāḥ etc. Pattehiṃ has not only the meaning pātrais but also the meaning prāptais.
