[1] Comm. V. 43: He deva! Apareshāṃ kā kathā? mayaiva saptanaraka-madhya-varti-narakāvāse ‘pratishṭhānābhidhe shaṭ-shashṭi sāgaropamāni (name of a great period of time, see Bhag. I, 427; the thereby explained ayara is probably acara "immobile") ushitaṃ (hereby vatthuṃ, and vasieṇaṃ is also replaced by ushitena explained. I interpret vatthuṃ as a gerund (Hem. II, 146, Hāla p. 66), where the subject vasieṇaṃ is in the instr. and the next verse forms the main clause. I have therefore also put the two verses together spatially). Mayā kiṃ-vidhena? acintitāgato yo matsya-bhavas tasyāntar madhye muhurta matram kalam ushitena (anto-muhutta can also be understood as one word; it is the name of a small period of time, see Bhag. in several places)... Atra approx. matsya-sabdaḥ sāmānya-vācy api tandula-matsya-vācī.
