40. Your principles, O Lord, are like elephants in a closed Rows of horses (hanging on one another), surrounded by disputants (secondary meaning: by horses), drive the enemy to flight in an instant.[1]

Hāla p. 21 not. 2. — nayā, Comm. naigamādi-nayā. — mayā-gaya Comm. mahā-gaja, but is evidently mataṅgaja, like sīha for siṃha Hem. I, 29.
