    26. Before you alone has been humbled the gazelle-eyed gaze-flirts, which is the host of King Cupid (love), proud to break the defiance of men.[1]

    [1] Comm.: Manmatha-narendra-yodbā, mṛigākshīṇām drig-vikshepā tvayi navaraṃ kevalam nashtāhaṃkārāḥ saṃjātā yodhāḥ; kiṃ jagacchabdena ? jagad-varti-janās tesham darpa-bhañjanenottānāḥ samud-dhara-kandharāḥ. Atra approx. aṇurāya-gāthāyā (ṃ) (24) Manmatha-rājño rājadhānyāḥ śṛiṅgāra-rasasya vikshepa uktah. Aṇā jasety-ādinā (25) nadīśasya Smarasya nirdalanaṃ. Païṃ varīty (sic)- ādinā hatam sainyam anāyikam (per anāyakam. Cf. Ind. Prov. 7362, ed. II.) iti nyāyena tat- sainikānām (Cod. sainināmām) ahaṃkāra-nyakkāraḥ (Cod. Nyatkāraḥ) prabhuṇā nirmita it gāthā-traya-samudāyārthaḥ.
