16. Here for this Jaing- gaccha, Kevalajñānavinayatāpasya-saṅgha, is the assimilation through one's behavior through critical self-inspection to check whether one has reached the status for oneself, the fifth Guṇasthāna, through the observance of the 2 karaṇas and the 3 yogas in the purest form really corresponds. The act of adopting the five mahāvratas (1. Not killing or harming any living being, 2. Truth, 3. Taking nothing that is not given, 4. Celibacy, 5. Possession) is called dīkṣā and about it it is stated: “It is easy to talk about dīkṣā, but extremely difficult to properly follow the strict rules of ascetic life.[1] It really is like chewing iron beads with the help of a soft wax denture."

[1] Dīkṣā means to accept the resolution to strictly observe the five mahāvrātas, i.e., 1. non-violence, 2. truth, 3. honesty, 4. celibacy, 5. non-possession, for a certain period of 3 days, 7 days, 15 days, 3 years or until the end of that life span. To avoid making a decision forever, for this would not be possible in a future heavenly existence and the decision would not have been carried out and would therefore be defective, and a defect is certainly never conducive to a pure goal.
