14. The 24 seers, or Jinas [victors over the 6 inner enemies - lust, anger, ego (pride), intrigue (deceit/deceit/deception), greed, hate] also called Tīrthaṅkaras (Ford Makers through Saṃsāra), arhats, elders, etc. had in her life 5 kalyanas (auspicious moments) 1. conception, 2. birth, 3. dīkṣa (self-initiation by simply taking the 5 full vows with 3 karaṇas and 3 yogas without asking the parents), 4. enlightenment called manaḥparāya - jñāna (mind-reading knowledge), 5. kevala (omniscience additionally connected with immortality). This group gives each member the basics to walk the same path as the 24 victors as per footnote 1 above. A description of the path to the 6th guṇasthāna, where one takes the five full vows or mahāvratas oneself without asking the parents, is described above Jambū in Hēmachandrācāryas Sthaviravalī called Pariśistaparvan.[1]
