Requirement for new members in the Kevalajñānavinayatapavasya Saṅgha before admission:
Knowledge of the six-fold path of Mahāvīra for climbing the 14-stage guṇasthāna (ladder of spiritual purity of mind)
Knowledge of the 5 kinds of right knowledge, viz., 1. mati-, 2. śruta-, 3. avadhi-, 4. manaḥparyāya-, and 5. kevala-jñāna.
Knowledge of the 148/158 karmas beginning with the first 5 karmas, namely 1st mati-, 2nd śruta-, 3rd avadhi-, 4th manaḥparyāya-, and 5th kevala - jñānāvaraṇīya karma, and their causes.
At the minimum kṣāyopaśamika aiming at the pratyakhyānakaṣāya stage for taking the 5 minor vows avoiding the 5 downfalls per vow (5x5 = 25).
The 49 bol (shades)[1] are to be observed for each of the mohanīya karmas.
