Succession regulation of the ācārya and upādhyāya of this gaccha, the Kevalajñānavinayatāpasya-saṅgha, the universal Jain Saṅgha is a supreme scripture. It is based in connection with the knowledge that has passed on in uninterrupted transmission from Mahāvīra, the 24th of the 24 elders, the Scripture knowledge only through Sudharma, one of his 11 apostles, bundled to his disciple Jambū. There are 5 ministries in the Jain Church who are the 5 most revered persons who perceive right perception that right knowledge together with right conduct leads to salvation.[1] These 5 most revered persons are expressed in the first letter of the Prākṛt alphabet, namely OṀ (Aaaum), which is standing for Arhat; aśarīra = "disembodied", i.e., the siddhas; ācārya; upādhyāya; and muṇī = the still one or the sādhu. Only who is the possessor of this knowledge and knows the meaning of Right Knowledge - which always was, always is, and always will be - on the basis of samyakdarśanajñānacaritaṇī mokṣamārgaḥ of Tattvārthādhigama Sūtra, Pañchastikāyasāra, Pravacanasāra, etc., and receives "yogapaṭa",[2] may become the succeeding ācārya or upādhyāya in this Kevalajñānavinayatāpasya-saṅgha of the universal Jain Church.
